Shangyuan Liu

My Story

Shangyuan Liu is a PhD candidate in the Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering Department at the University of Birmingham. Previously, Shangyuan served as a visiting doctoral researcher at Aalto University. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (with First Class Honours) from the University of Lincoln in 2021 and a Master's degree in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (with Distinction) from the University of Sheffield in 2022.

Currently, he is working as a teaching assistant at the University of Birmingham, teaching lab courses in software and systems, data mining and machine learning, and power system operation and control. He is also a research associate in the same department, working on the Sustainable Healthcare through Energy Analytics and Data-driven Efficiency (SHADE) project. His main research interests are in machine learning, data-driven decarbonisation, and energy-efficient buildings
